A total of 7 projects have been selected at a total funding of MK28 Million, on average, MK4 million for each project as follows; 1: Integrating intimate partner violence prevention in antenatal services – by Dr. Lignet Chepuka; 2: Capacity Building in Provision of Hormonal Contraceptives to HIV positive Women in Lilongwe District, Malawi by Mrs. Esmey Mkwinda; : Use of Health information to pregnant adolescents in the community to prevent preterm births by Dr. Lily Kumbani; 4: Building capacity of nurses and midwives in neurological care of neonates and children with common neurological dysfunctions at pediatric and obstetric departments at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital by Mrs. Miriam Simbota; 5: Making a difference: Fostering the development of compassionate care among nurses / midwives working in selected hospitals in Lilongwe through action research by Dr. Gladys Msiska. In addition to the five that will be funded under the competitive research grant scheme, there are two special projects that are dealing directly with the problem of maternal mortality; Viz; 6. Birthing positions: promoting evidence based childbirth practices at Bwaila Maternity Unit in Lilongwe by Mrs. Barbra Zileni and 7. Strengthening postnatal care services in Lilongwe district by Dr. Mercy Pindani.
