Call for Abstract Submission
Background
Kamuzu College of Nursing (KCN) is pleased to announce that it will hold a Research Dissemination Conference on Thursday, 11th February 2016 in Lilongwe at a KCN Lecture Theater (Lilongwe Campus). The theme of the conference is “Improving Nursing and Midwifery Education, Practice and Research in Malawi.’
The abstracts should fall under the following tracks:
Track A: Midwifery Research and Practice
This track will look at basic midwifery research into management of childbearing women and midwifery practice. The specific areas include quality of care, access to services, experiences of mothers, teenage pregnancies, advocacy & gender issues etc.
Track B: Reproductive Health Research and Practice
This track will look at research in reproductive health care and practice. The specific areas include health promotion, sexually transmitted diseases, client experiences, access to RH services, empowerment, quality of care and support etc.
Track C: Community & Mental Health Nursing Research and Practice
This track will look at research in Community & Mental Health Nursing and Practice. The specific areas include health promotion, mental health care, client experiences and behaviours, quality of care, and support etc.
Track D: Child Health Nursing
This track will look at research in Child Health Nursing and Practice. The specific areas include health promotion, access to services, client experiences, quality of care and support etc.
Track E: Nursing and Midwifery Education and Practice
This track will look at research in Nursing and Midwifery Education and Practice. The specific areas include learner/teacher experiences, quality of teaching and learning, teaching/learning support etc.
Call for Abstracts
Interested presenters are therefore invited to submit abstracts in line with the conference theme and use the following format:
1. Title – must be short, concise ……….
2. List of authors and their affiliations ………please bold the presenting author
3. Contact details of the presenting author– phone number and email address
4. Background –include the gap, and a brief justification
5. Objectives ……..
6. Methodology– include setting, population, data collection methods and analysis used.
7. Results – include only key findings
8. Conclusions or Interpretation
9. Implications………………..
All abstracts must be in English and be submitted electronically. Abstracts should be single-spaced in Times New Roman font size 11 using Microsoft Word 1997 or higher. They should not be more than 400 words in length and should not include references, tables and figures. Please indicate clearly if you intend to do an oral or poster presentation. Please note that all submissions that do not meet the criteria specified above will not be considered.
Abstract review
A team of experts in the field will peer review all abstracts received by the deadline. Presenters of accepted abstracts will be notified of the date, time and mode of presentation prior to the conference.
